Looking back on a successful 18th YA Conference in Milan
Last week, the 18th AESOP Young Academics Conference took place at the Politecnico University in Milan (19-22 March 2024).
This year's theme was Bridging Gaps: Urban Planning for Coexistence and brought together 50 young academics in urban planning and related fields, as well as invited keynote speakers and local faculty staff. For four days, in five different tracks and three roundtables participants tried to find answers to questions such as How can planning reinvent itself? Which are the tools and practices that will ensure human well-being and coexistence with the world?
During the conference, the annual AESOP YA General Assembly took place, in which Ceren, SaeBom and Sophie elaborated on the YA Network. The conference also included guided site visits, a social dinner and two PhD workshops. Find some pictures of the conference at the bottom of this page.
From the YA coordination team once again we would like to congratulate the whole Local Organizing Committee on the impeccable organization of this event, in particular Dafni Riga, Abdallah Jreij and Danila Saulino!
We also invite participants to consider writing a blog post for our YA Blog about their experience at the conference.
We are also happy to announce that the 19th AESOP YA Conference will take place at Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany, focusing on the theme of Circular Cities and Regions: Planning for Sustainable Social and Inclusive Communities. The conference is expected to take place in March/April 2025. Keep an eye on our website and newsletter for more information!
