AESOP YA Coordination Team member Aybüke Balahun Çoban recently took part in the Lisbon Early-Career Workshop in Urban Studies as a Co-Mentor, working alongside Marco Allegra and representing our network.

This year's theme — "What's the Urban Worth? Revaluing the Value of Urban Life" — brought together early-career researchers for three days of parallel sessions, collective discussions, and keynotes by Maan Barua (University of Cambridge) and Andrea Mubi Brighenti (University of Trento), exploring metabolic urbanism, valuation, and the aesthetics and politics of urban life.

Organised by the Urban Transitions Hub (ICS-ULisboa), the workshop offered a supportive space for exchanging methodological and theoretical approaches across diverse urban research traditions.

Congratulations to the organising committee — Lavinia Pereira, Andrea Pavoni, Marco Allegra, Luisa Rossini, and Simone Tulumello — for creating such a vibrant and welcoming environment for emerging urban scholars.

Workshops like this remind us why academic communities matter: cultivating curiosity, generosity, and collective thinking toward more just and imaginative urban futures.
