Do you want to join our group of regional AESOP YA Ambassadors and help to further develop AESOP YA’s regional and national networks?

After a successful first term of the YA Ambassadors, we are relaunching the program. We are looking for a diverse group of motivated early career scholars to join our YA Ambassadors program for an initial period of one year, from September 2025-2026. We especially encourage applications from regions where AESOP currently has less presence.

Existing ambassadors are welcome to reapply for this term, and we would particularly welcome new members to the Ambassador program.

Please note that candidates with previous direct engagement with AESOP or AESOP YA (via Congress / YA conference attendance etc) are preferred. A key element of this work is promotional activity, and thus existing knowledge of AESOP and AESOP YA is important.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Promotion: Raise awareness about AESOP YA through both in-person and online activities at, such as delivering presentations about the AESOP YA network at universities in your region; distributing promotional materials (flyers, posters) to relevant institutions; or organizing online webinars or information sessions to introduce the network to potential member. We require ambassadors to conduct at least one promotional event (either a webinar or in-person presentation) during their term.
  • Content Contribution: Publish at least two posts on the AESOP YA Blog, including one introductory post at the beginning of your term and one reflective post at the conclusion of your term. We particularly welcome posts that reflect on academic experiences in your country/region; or discuss recent developments in planning practice, education, or research in your country/region; or highlight regional planning perspectives.

What you will get:

  • International Visibility: Showcase your region and research on an international platform.
  • Expanded Professional Network: Connect with other regional ambassadors and the YA Coordination Team to gain deeper insights into AESOP and planning academia across Europe.
  • Leadership Experience: Develop organizational and outreach skills while representing AESOP YA in your region.

Please send a short statement of motivation (less than 600 words) to yamail@aesopyoungacademics.net before Monday, 28th July 2025. CALL EXTENDED: Friday 8th August 2025

In this statement, please provide a narrative that addresses the following:

  • Describe the region where you would serve as ambassador, including AESOP YA's current visibility and representation there. We're particularly interested in understanding areas where the network has limited presence and how your ambassadorship could strengthen connections.
  • Share your vision for promoting AESOP YA in your region. What specific activities would you organize during your term? Consider both online and in-person initiatives, their target audiences, and how they would enhance the network's reach.
  • Outline your ideas for your first blog contribution. How would you introduce yourself and your regional context to the wider AESOP YA community? What planning-related themes from your region would you like to highlight?
