The ENHANCE PhD Winter School Urbanism in the Age of Polycrisis: Uncertainty, Complexity, and Transformation invites PhD candidates to explore city-regions through three lenses: socio-spatial configurations under stress, governance and knowledge in conditions of uncertainty, and pathways of transformation. By combining keynotes, symposium presentations, round tables, and workshops, the winter school creates a stimulating environment where participants can sharpen their own research, exchange ideas across disciplines, and develop comparative insights that lead to joint outputs.

We warmly invite PhD candidates to submit an abstract of 150–200 words based on their ongoing research and aligned with one or more of these lenses. The Winter School combines an online preparation phase with a five-day on-site programme of symposium and workshops, is accredited with 4 ECTS by the Doctoral Academy of RWTH Aachen University, and is financially supported through the ENHANCE Alliance and ERASMUS+.
