
A Special Issue of plaNext – Next Generation Planning, published by the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) Young Academics network, invites contributions building on the 20th AESOP Young Academics Conference 2026 held in Prague.
The issue explores how urban and rural interactions—across social, spatial, economic, and environmental dimensions—are being reshaped by contemporary challenges such as climate change, technological transformation, and social inequalities. It focuses on how planning, design, and governance can foster inclusive, accessible, and resilient environments.
Submissions may address four key themes: Proximity & Permeability, Flows & Connections, Governance & Tools, and Inclusion & Dynamics, and are open to a variety of formats.
Guest Editors: Francesca Leccis, Milan Husar, Malachy Buck, Eren Efeoglu, Qing Guo, Ludmila Kolouchová, Pavlína Suchá, Denis Charalambidis.
Abstracts (max. 500 words) are due 24 April 2026, with publication planned for the end of 2026. Submissions are open to all researchers and will undergo peer review.
The timeline for publication is scheduled as follows:
— Call for abstracts: 21st of March 2026
— Deadline for the submission of abstracts: 24th of April 2026
— Acceptance of abstracts: 10th of May 2026
— Deadline for the submission of full papers: 21st July 2026
— Peer Review and Revision: July 2026 – October 2026
— Publication: End of 2026
