We’re excited to introduce Urban Political Ecology, a new interdisciplinary journal that publishes state-of-the-art scholarship primarily rooted in the field of urban political ecology (UPE), along with related disciplines. The journal focuses on broad themes relating to urbanisation, including the role of politics in urban development, the mutual entanglement of structural inequalities in determining policies of urbanisation and the relationship with the natural environment, among others.

The journal encourages publications from scholars who channel their critical energies towards a politically engaged debate over the role of extensive urbanisation in addressing socio-environmental politics and inequality, especially in the context of contemporary, global environmental crises. We warmly invite submissions for upcoming issues, particularly on themes like extended urbanisation, nature, politics, more-than-human ontologies, post-colonialism, degrowth and the Anthropocene/Capitalocene. Details on the submission process can be found on our website (https://journals.sagepub.com/home/upe).

Warmly,
