“FROM GREY TO GREEN: PLANNING AND THE DE-CARBONISATION OF THE CITY"
The AESOP Annual Congress 2027 will take place on 19–23 July 2027 at the University of Birmingham, UK. Under the theme “From Grey to Green: Planning and the De-Carbonisation of the City,” the Congress will bring together planning scholars, researchers, and practitioners to explore how spatial planning can support climate action, sustainable urban development, and the transition towards low-carbon and climate-resilient cities.
The Congress will focus on key challenges and opportunities related to urban decarbonisation, including climate adaptation and mitigation, renewable energy, circular economies, nature-based solutions, and sustainable urban futures. It will provide a platform for international exchange, knowledge sharing, and discussions on the role of planning in addressing contemporary environmental and societal challenges.
