Summer movies: Muito além do peso

Food, the way it's produced, the way it's consumed, the way it's advertised, the way it's commercialised, has been assuming a growing role in public debates all around developed countries. Where the denutrition has been overcome, obesity became the norm: this enormous paradox has strong ties with issues of sustainability, health, and justice. And planning and geography studies have been engaging with it.

Muito além do peso (Well beyond the weight, the website) is a Brazilian documentary about kids obesity. Is obesity the biggest infantile pandemic in history? The movie debates this, from the perspective of a country amongst the most polarised in the world, a country where obesity is still faced with its opposite.
