'Planetizen is a public-interest information exchange for the urban planning, design, and development community. It is a one-stop source for urban planning news, editorials, book reviews, announcements, jobs, education, and more' (from the about section of the website).
Planetizen, although based in the US and concerned with US' issues, is a useful resource for the planners' community at large.
It releases an annual top 10 of websites in the area of planning, design, and development, 'based on nominations by Planetizen readers and staff and judged against a common set of criteria, including content, design, and usability. We've listed the websites alphabetically, not in an order of rank'.
This year, the recently released top 10, focuses on websites that have been launched in 2014, or that have released significant new features during 2014. Most websites cited offer map-based tools and resources (again, almost exclusively in the US territory).
Among the cited websites, Citiscope is a digital platform for news from cities all around the globe, which "in additional to weekly original articles, [...] also includes a curated feed of news items from around the world, a special series on urban innovators, and a full and consistent social media presence" (from Planetizen description).
