As we pass the torch to the new YA blog team, it is time to introduce Luis H. Lozano-Paredes, our new editor-in-chief joining us from Sydney, Australia.
Luis is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Public Policy and Governance, University of Technology Sydney, focusing his research on urban planning, design studies, institutional theory, organisational science and platform studies. His main interest is the research of platforms and how they challenge institutions in cities of the global south. He is currently studying paratransit platforms challenging the transportation ecosystem of Bogotá, Colombia for his PhD thesis.
Before moving to Australia, he worked as a research and planning officer at the Argentine Ministry of Transportation (2015-2019), as a junior researcher for the University of Buenos Aires, visiting lecturer at Torcuato di Tella University and Simon Fraser University and as an assistant student lecturer and senior researcher at the University of Belgrano. He was also a Frédéric Bastiat fellow and is a current Adam Smith fellow of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Born in Colombia with Curaçaoan, Spanish and Portuguese ancestry, Luis speaks native Spanish as well as English, French, Portuguese, Papiamento and Hebrew. He holds a MArch of the University of Belgrano and a MSc in Urban Economics from the Torcuato di Tella University, both in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
